Bob Hoover: Saluting the "Pilot's Pilot"

1 p.m. - ConocoPhillips Plaza (Plane Talk: Shrike Commander with Bob Odegaard)
8 p.m. - Theater in the Woods (Tribute to Bob Hoover, hosted by former Good Morning America host David Hartman)
Hoover, a 1988 inductee to the National Aviation Hall of Fame, is best known for his air show performances in a Shrike Commander and P-51 Mustang and a flying career dating back to World War II.






FIFI to Appear at AirVenture Oshkosh 2011
First visit since 1995 for world's only airworthy B-29 Superfortress

Flying again after a four-year renovation, the world's only airworthy Boeing B-29 Superfortress, FIFI, plans a much-anticipated appearance at EAA AirVenture 2011, the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) confirmed this week. Part of CAF's B-29/B-24 Squadron based in Addison, Texas, FIFI will arrive at Wittman Regional Airport Tuesday, July 26, and stay for the duration, including flying in Friday's air show, July 29, as part of the day-long veterans salute. This will be FIFI's first appearance since 1995.
"The addition of the B-29 to the lineup at EAA AirVenture 2011 further solidifies Oshkosh as the greatest aviation gathering point in the world," said Tom Poberezny, EAA and AirVenture chairman. "This legendary warbird represents the highest American bomber technology during World War II, and will be an integral piece of the festivities honoring those who served and sacrificed for the freedom we enjoy today."





FLIGHTLINE: Showcase flights & Air show, 2 p.m. Scheduled featured performers include AeroShell Aerobatic Team (T-6s), Julie Clark (T-34), Liberty Parachute Team, Steve Oliver (Chipmunk), Kent Pietsch (Interstate Cadet Car Top), Sean Tucker (Pitts), Scott Yoak (P-51), Clyde Zellers (SNJ), Corkey Fornof (LoPresti Fury), Bob Hoover Tribute, and Warbirds.


FLY-IN THEATER: True Grit (2010, PG-13), introduced by executive producer David Ellison (pilot and EAA member), 8:30 p.m.
